WELCOME

The Encounter Bay Right Whale Study (EBRWS) connects the community, scientists and managers for Southern Right Whale protection, conservation and education.

Encounter Bay is listed as a calving and aggregation area for the endangered Southern Right Whale.

OUR OBJECTIVES

Long-term population monitoring; understanding life history parameters such as calving, survival and recovery rates; assessment of fine scale behaviour and individual movement patterns, core habitat use and home ranges; plus characterising the soundscape of the different aggregation areas are our main objectives.

EBRWS STEERING COMMITTEE

Meet the EBRWS team of specialists, experts and researchers, passionately driven by the desire to record scientific data and what matters most about our Southern Right Whales, to help and protect!

DRONE RESEARCH

The Encounter Bay Right Whale Study (EBRWS) is a citizen science program designed to address research priorities that will inform conservation management and protection of Southern Right Whales in the Encounter Marine Park, South Australia.

CATALOGUE

EBRWS has put together a catalogue of whales we have seen in Encounter Bay over the years. Visit this online catalogue and compare the catalogued whales to those you have seen.
